Standing Desk Review: FlexiSpot E7 Pro Premium

I was worried it'd be a bulky eyesore in our sleek, modern home. What I found really surprised me.

There are moments in life that feel so coincidental, it’s hard to not romanticize them as fated.

Like most of you, my work situation was completely upended by COVID.

I’ve worked from home for the past 10 years. In that time, I learned every trick of the work-from-home life. Throwing in laundry before a call. Stretching my legs with the dogs in the afternoon. Converting my workspace for when guests come over.

And then the world shut down, and my open-space condo went from airy to suffocating overnight. My husband Garrett––a clinical pharmacist––was forced to work from home for the first time in his life and see patients via televisit from our dining room table.

After more than three years of this, just when we thought we’d figured it out, Garrett found a new problem: Sitting all day was giving him sciatica. Back-to-back patients didn’t leave him the room to stretch his legs that I had.

And he was in serious pain.

Two days after he booked an appointment to see a doctor, a curious e-mail landed in my inbox. FlexiSpot, a manufacturer of standing desks, reached out to ask if I’d review their newest model, the E7 Pro Premium Standing Desk.

To be honest, it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed any product. But, maybe out of sheer pain, Garrett begged me to take the opportunity.

A week later, we found what felt like an 80-pound box outside our door. We instantly regretted our decision as we lugged it upstairs. Where would we put it? Would a bulky desk match our sleek white walls and modern decor?

Nevertheless, we sat inside one rainy Saturday morning in desperate hopes that putting it together wouldn’t end in the fight every couple knows all too well.

To our pleasant surprise, the instructions were really simple and straightforward––even for a technophobe like me. My only wish was that there were a video, in addition to the written instructions, as we did put the legs on backward at one point and had to redo them. The entire process took us 30 minutes.

Once it was built, I was also surprised at how sleek the entire desk is. The design is very minimalist and modern with a cable tray and magnetic covering to organize and hide any wires. And the legs are less obtrusive than other standing desks I’ve seen, allowing for lots of legroom or a chair pushed in.

There are four programmable settings for the desk, which we chose to use as a standing and sitting position for each of us. So I think my favorite part is that after Garrett is done with his workday, he hits a button to return the height to a lower sitting position, and it just looks like modern decor.

Other notable features include:

  • A USB port in the keypad, which we’ve used to connect a ring light––because it’s 2023, right?
  • Steady movement up and down, so you don’t need to worry about removing anything, even my full cup of tea
  • Sturdy top that can handle up to 440 pounds of weight
  • 15-year warranty, which surpasses the industry standard

In the last few weeks since we’ve gotten the desk, Garrett has had zero sciatica symptoms. And, contrary to my fears of a bulky desk, we’ve only gotten compliments about this sleek, fashionable addition to our home.

The FlexiSpot E7 Pro Premium Standing Desk retails at $759.99 (but is currently $150 off), making it comparable to similar standing desks on the market. But the real seller for me is the sleek, modern design that makes it work for our home (plus the easily programmable heights).

I have to admit, I started this process a bit of a skeptic. But, if you’ve been considering a standing desk and need something sleek and aesthetically pleasing, the FlexiSpot E7 Pro Premium has made me a convert.
